Markets
The market for telemanagement systems in outdoor lighting is driven primarily by the need for improved efficiency in terms of energy and operations.
There is evidence that increasing pressures on lighting owners and operators for improved efficiency, particularly in terms of reducing energy consumption and costs, is translating to real demand for these systems in many global markets. The potential market for street lighting telemanagement is considered to be about 100m - 200m units over the next 10-20 years.

Regulatory
UK
The system operates within the licence exempt part of the radio spectrum (868 MHz). The telecell and base station are approved for use under Elexon regulations for unmetered supplies (code of practice BSCP520).
International
The radio platform on which Telensa’s system is built is compliant to both European and North American radio regulations, giving the system a large addressable share of the global market. In addition the telecell unit has a metering chip, which means that the system should be ultimately approvable as a metering system for use under metered electricity supply regulations, as well as existing un-metered arrangements.
